After a massive effort, Joost Posthuma (Rabobank) managed to make contact with the two leaders.
The yellow-jersey team of HSBC spear the head of the peloton to limit the break's advantage.

Ludovic Auger (Auber 93) and his team-mate Yannick Talabardon finish a few seconds in front of the peloton containing race leader Nicolas White (HSBC), and it was enough for Auger to assume control of the general classification.
