The Giro d.Italia Under 23 / Elite started with a prologue in Maerne in Veneto. The Australian National team is made up of Aaron Kemps, Gene Bates and David Betts from the AIS group, David McPartland and Caleb Manion from the Italian, Bibanese team and Ben Johnson from his French team based in Dijon. The rules of this race state that half the team must be Under 23 and the rest Under 26 years old. We have five riders under 23.

The prologue was held over a 6.1km flat course and our last rider turned in our best time with Aaron Kemps placing 9th, 11" behind winner Dario Benenati from IMA Veneta.
