LVRC Severn Stoke RRSaturday June 19, 2004Race 1: A & B Categories (40 - 49) Despite the speed, just over 26 mph, the field stayed substantially together, only splitting on the last hill where Ian Fagan used his great strength to win. Race 2: C & D Categories (50 - 59) Barrie Mitchell and Phil Bayton went away on the second lap and looked secure. But it wasn't all over: there were strong riders behind and when Bayton tired, leaving Mitchell alone, the gap narrowed rapidly. But Mitchell had enough time and energy to hang on and cross the line a few metres ahead of the chasers. Race 3: EFG Categories (60+) Les West and Mick Ives went clear on the first climb of the hill after 10 miles. Behind the field splintered and lost ground steadily. On the final rise West left a tired Ives and gained 15 seconds in the last 300 metres. Results, 40 milesRace 1 1 Ian Fagan (LVRC) 1.32.10 2 M. Walker (Bush Healthcare) 3 M. Davies (De Montfort) 4 D.
