Cyco Criterium Series #4Auckland, November 27, 2003A GradeNumbers were down as Taupo loomed but the racing proved popular with a small field of 26 A Graders. Craig Pitt seemed to have everybody's measure in the two interim sprints. David Rae and Ryan Hoogenberg left soon afterwards building a sufficient gap to see them to the finish. After a few unsuccessful attempts to bridge, the bunch sprint saw Nick Hotchin prevail over the rest for third. B GradeDifficult conditions and a smaller field meant honest efforts were required all round. Steve Jennings-Steers made the judges jobs easy for the first sprint leaping away from the pack 100 m out. Richard Speers went early for the finish and opened a significant gap on the chasers. Not as significant as he thought though as he sat up to celebrate too early snatching Second when First looked certain. Alaistair McGregor carried a huge smile around Richard for the win and Steve Jennings-Steers picked up third.
