Sam Lee pounds his way up the 22% climb

This was a mountain time trial 11.5km long with sections up to 22% steep. It climbed way up above Florence. Only two riders from each team were permitted to race, so the Australian team sent its two riders for the time trial in Hamilton, Sam Lee and William Walker.

Both riders put in awesome rides against some tough competition from the Russian national team and some of the best Italian climbers. William Walker was third and Sam Lee was sixth.
