Harry Reynolds MemorialMarch 27, 2004 BalbrigganBy Shane Stokes, irishcycling.com The Balbriggan cycling club hosted Saturday's Harry Reynolds Memorial. Former Irish International Bill Moore showed a return to form when he sprinted to a good win, getting the better of Andrew McQuaid (Emerald) and Brian Ahern (Naas Rubex) in their gallop for the line. Breakaway companions Timmy Barry (Cidona Carrick Wheelers), Laurence Roche (unattached) and Philip Cassidy (Cycleways Lee Strand) took fourth, fifth and sixth. The group went clear in the second half of the eight lap, 32 mile handicap race, after the groups of third cats and women plus veterans and juniors were reeled in. McQuaid went away with Moore with three laps to go, the others getting up to them shortly afterwards. A lot of attacking took place in the final four miles but despite his two-year layoff from the bike, Moore had more than enough speed to land the win.
