Blizzard Bike ClubFort St John, BC, March 20 2005The weather for Sunday's race wasn't bad, considering it was the first day of spring, with the road newly ploughed and the temperatures up to -4 at race time. The slippery steep climb was a challenge though. Stephen Ferris pulled away of the other nine riders after the neutral was over. He sped away on the fast downhill, as Jordy Kirk caught and passed Pat Ferris to come in second with the elder Ferris taking third and Rod Lewis in fourth. Gary Hilderman took fifth, with Eric Lowry, Dean Lowry and Barb Polehoykie taking out the following places. That leaves 1998 winner Pat Ferris and 2003 co-winner Stephen Ferris tied for points going into next Sunday's final, the Beatton Park Roubaix. Rod Lewis and Dave Damery are tied for second spot with three points. It all comes down to Good Friday's Beatton Park Roubaix. It has more pavement but a lot more hills than the other two races. Four-time Roubaix Cup winner Robert Martens will be in town to make the race difficult for local stalwarts Stephen Ferris, Pat Ferris, Dave Damery and Mike Hientzman. Race time is at 2:00 pm. There will also be a Sunday Cecil Lake road race at 2 pm as well, but it is not part of the Roubaix Series.
