Blizzard Bike ClubFort St. John, BC, August 14, 2005Outside forces conspired to keep the Blizzards off the Bear Flats Hill, which is their usual circuit. Two accident damaged vehicles on the Bear Flats hill forced the club riders to use the shorter but nearby 'Watson Hill'. It was less time to ride in the cold rain, however. A near record group of eighteen riders were on the start line including two previous winners. Joseph Gladysz won the inaugural event back in 2000, with his brother Timothy winning in 2004 and the defending champion. Timothy Gladysz was lead off the start line with Stephen Ferris, Trevor Kolkea and Carsten Erbe close behind. Tim and Stephen soon pulled away. The two traded the lead several times before the final sprint. Stephen sprinted first to win with about a one second lead over Tim Gladysz at 8:05 minutes. Trevor Kolkea held on for third spot. Carsten Erbe faded a bit as the hill wore on, with Pat Ferris and Joseph Gladysz passing him at the half way mark. Pat got a gap on Joseph to take 4th at 8:48 and Joseph finished fifth, at 9:08 minutes.
