Attacks were firing off the front for the whole race with almost all riders trying to get away solo or form a small breakaway group. The speed was high for the whole race. On the first lap Joel Fahy had his competitors chewing their handlebar tape as he strung them out behind him up the exchange at over 40km/h, a pace not seen in club racing for over a decade. Luke Knox also showed his legs are ripening well for the road season ahead with a 70km/h attack down the Gooseneck. But the field was all class and sprint finish was going to settle the final prizes. Robbie Hucker, well known for his climbing prowess, timed his run into the wind best and beat the field to the line followed by Joel Fahy and Tony Jones. B Grade developed as an intriguing game of road-chess. No attack was allowed to succeed with Terry Schintler showing his younger pupils how to win a bike race. Micah Leske showed he still has that winning feeling in C Grade after recovering from a high speed track crash. He lead home Simon Bennett in his first race and Ron McColluch rounded out the podium.
