Results and reports from AustraliaPromoters wishing to submit results should send them to Cyclingnews Bendigo & District Cycling Club Scratch Racing - 52 kmEmu Creek, February 10, 2008Sunshine and rolling hillsA grade riders practised their team time trialling until the second ascent of Gooseneck. Not a single attack was launched until three quarters of the way through the race. It was the three strongmen - Canadian Croc rider Tim Hucker, Milan-San Remo hard man Tom Southam and cyclist extraordinaire Jarrod Moroni - who took control and established a 20 second gap by the Telephone Exchange. A group of four chased hard but never really challenged the leading trio. In the finale Moroni ousted Aussie Champs Climbing King Southam for the A Grade trophy. B Grade took time to smell the roses on their 52km journey through the countryside with only Dave Mannix stringing the group out occasionally. A hectic bunch sprint followed, with Heathy’s rumoured 1000-miles-a-week training program helping him hold off the Rocket for the win. Izaac Lea continued his good form with third. C grade provided the fireworks for today’s racing. The bunch exploded on the first lap of the gooseneck circuit with a group of four going clear. On the second lap four turned to two with John Grewar and Troy Hutchins turning up the heat on their breakaway companions. Grewar continued to attack towards the finish and then rolled Hutchins for the win in front of the huge Emu Creek crowd. Lance Tonkin took the third place prize.
