After approx 21km at Blue Top Broadford rider Peter Cooper had caught everyone except Burgess but on the run to Highlands Burgess was passed by Cooper. Meanwhile new rider 16 year old Jadyn Vandort had also left his co-markers to try and chase down Cooper. Scratch riders Alan Adams and Ian Boyde were chasing hard and were only 5mins down on the leading rider Peter Cooper at the turnaround point. Adams and Boyde caught Vandort on the climb up to Blue Top. Vandort got on to the back wheels of these riders for several kms before he dropped his chain. On the run back to the finish Cooper was reeled in and left in the wake of the rampaging scratch riders. On the finish line Adams proved to strong for Boyde to take a great first and fastest time while Cooper finished in 3rd.
