Randwick Botany member Jersy Sowa celebrated his 32nd birthday with a win in the 36km A-Grade race at Heffron Park on Valentines Day. Team FRF Courier rider Chris Jenkins was second followed by strongmen John Kenny and Patrick Jones.

Richard Makin (North Sydney) and Andrew Riordan (Gunnedah) broke away in the 32km B-Grade event with 4 laps to go. The pair sprinted it out for first and second place respectively, more than 400m in front of the chasing group. Third home was Nicholas Rathbone (Eastern Suburbs) followed by Kevin Black (Sydney), Grant Patrick (Southern Cross), Julian Robert-Shaw, David Huang (St George) and Clive Hammerson.

Laura Bortolozzi (Team FRF Couriers) drove the C-Grade bunch for most of their 28km race, breaking away early in the event. One third of the bunch was dropped by the final laps, with Arthur Driver setting the pace in the latter stages. Final placings were Andy Portess (UK), Greg Haydon (Parramatta), Richard Westmoreland and Arthur Driver (Penrith Panthers).

Andrew Swan won the D-Grade 20km race, with Adam Bradstreet second, Janelle Lindsay third and Andrew Morehouse fourth.

Junior rider Matthew Fortuna had a go in E-Grade and rode strongly. The race was won by Tom Nolan followed by Grant Roe, Carlos Serafin (Waratah Veterans), Stephen Patrick (Southern Cross), who's son placed fifth in B-Grade, and Joe Gatt.

Sam Buckland, Emma James, Matthew Fortuna, Matthew Weetman and Tom Patton participated in junior cycling skills training today, assisted by senior riders Patrick Jones, Aaron Castles and Clive Hammerson. The training was organized by Junior Support Co-ordinator Janette Murdoch.
