Hobart Wheelers CC Anzac Day Trophy Race

Before this tough race around Tasmania's own Ardennes - but where most of the spectators are possums up ghostly gum trees - I asked last year's Hobart Wheelers Club Champ Jai Crawford if he had cut back his training last week, "Not really, I've done 900km!" he replied. So even though this young rider's ambitions are for later in the season, he put everything he had into winning today.

He crested the major climb halfway through the race alone after catching the early break of Simon Van der Aa, Adam Christopher and Jason Johnson. Then powered home for the last 40km to put over two minutes into the next group, our other two emerging Tasmanian talents Daniel Furmston and Josh Wilson.
