One-Two for Gerolsteiner

Robert Förster and Sven Krauss of Team Gerolsteiner took out a one-two win in the sprint finish of the Dutch Food Valley Classic, formerly called Veenendaal-Veenendaal. Krauss led out the sprint for his team-mate and was able to follow him across the line, several bike lengths ahead of the peloton.

"Kraussi really did a top job. That was perfect," said Förster, after only his third victory of the season. "It's a great feeling, when you win. Then you know why you work so hard. And I knew that I could do it. You just have to believe in yourself."

An eight-man strong escape group had a slight lead over the peloton and was caught only 800 meters before the finish line. Shortly thereafter Krauss pulled out to start the sprint for Förster, and the pair just kept going. Third place went to Niko Eeckhout of Topsport Vlaanderen.
