- Freddy Bichot (Agritubel) grits his teeth as he is the last breakaway rider still ahead of the peloton. All gritting didn't help, though, and he got caught, too.
- Thomas Voeckler (Bouygues Telecom) was able to quadruple his lead in the GC and is now a staggering four seconds ahead of US American Christian Vande Velde (Slipstream Chipotle - H30)
