49th Grand Prix de Denain - 1.1Denain, France, April 17, 20082007 Results Results Past winners Boasson Hagen wins the sprintBy Susan Westemeyer Edvald Boasson Hagen (Team High Road) took his second victory of the season by winning the sprint in the GP Denain. The Norwegian won the sprint out of the remains of an escape group that managed to stay away the whole day. Jimmy Casper (Agritubel), who has won the race twice, finished second and Jimmy Engoulvent (Crédit Agricole) was third. The 15-man strong escape group got away after only 20 kilometres. On the second-to-last lap, six riders got away again, and the group was eventually reduced to four. Boasson Hagen, who is only 20 years old, took the sprint in impressive fashion. "Edvald sprinted so strongly for the line that there wasn't anybody else in the finishing photo," said Team High Road Directeur Sportif Tristan Hoffman. The rest of the 15-man group finished up to 12 minutes down. They were the only ranked finishers, as the remaining 81 riders were ruled to be outside of the time limit.
