Terrenzio repeats 2006 victory

Italian Fabio Terrenzio won the 46th edition of the Trofeo Ciclistico Salvatore Morucci after a very animated race. He beat Colombian Julian Atehourtua and Polish rider Jaroslaw Dabrowski in an exciting four-man battle to the finish line. Italian Luca Lattici just missed a podium spot.

The 127 starters went to action quickly, and Kazakh Andrey Zaits was first to animate the course for multiple kilometres. He was also the first over the top of the Monte Cimini after 66 kilometres of racing, winning maximum mountain points.

In the last lap a four-man group formed with Terrenzio, Atehortua, Dabrowski and Iattici. They stayed clear by eight seconds over the chasers and Terrenzio went on to prevail in the sprint.

The Trofeo Salvatore Morucci is held in memory of Salvatore Morucci, who died in a bicycle race accident in 1960. He was a riding for AS Roma under Pietro Chiappini. The family Morucci was in attendance as well.
