Steffen Radochla wins mass sprint
German Steffen Radochla (Wiesenhof-Felt) has won the 22nd edition of Veenendaal-Veenendaal. In a mass sprint he was ahead of his teammate Stefan Van Dijck of the Netherlands. The Italian Davide Viganň, riding for the Quickstep-Innergetic team, finished third.
The race started hectically and soon a 16-man break formed that would stay in the front for more than a 150km. One of the riders in the break was Van Dijck. 40 kilometres from the finish they were caught and no more escapees got away, so in the end it came down to a mass sprint. Despite his efforts in the front group Van Dijk not only led out the sprint for Radochla, but he even finished second.
"Today everything was just perfect," said directeur sportif Jens Heppner. Radochla is only the second German to ever win this race, after Olaf Ludwig in 1995.

- Tim Van Der Zanden (Ubbink - Syntec) back at the team car, before pulling out of the race.
- Wiesenhof Felt's Steffen Radochla takes victory from teammate Stefan Van Dijk.
