Santo Anzà finally wins it

Santo Anzà (Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni-Selle Italia) has won the Trofeo Melinda, by beating Luca Mazzanti of Ceramica Panaria-Navigare in a two-up sprint. Vladimyr Zagorodny of OTC Lauretana was third, three seconds back. The rest of the main field followed a further two seconds behind.

In a tough race only 58 finished the race, even though this time the weather was more cooperative than a few days ago, when only 19 riders finished the Tre Valli Varesine, whee it was pouring down. Anzà was third last year and was happy to step up two places on the podium, but didn't want to draw any conclusions for the Worlds. "I was strong last year, too, but I didn't get selected," the Italian revealed that he did not put too much hopes on a ride in Stuttgart.
