21st Veenendaal - Veenendaal - 1.HCNetherlands, June 7, 20062005 Results Results Past winners Boonen wins Veenendaal-VeenendaalTom Boonen (Quick.Step) won the Dutch Veenendaal-Veenendaal race over 209 kilometres, crossing the line ahead of Steffen Radochla (Weisenhof Akud), Max Van Heeswijk (Discovery Channel) and Boonen's teammate Steven De Jongh. It was the World Champion's 16th win of the season. "I had a good feeling about today's race," Boonen said. "The work I did during the retreat at Albertville did me good. From Saturday I'll be taking part in the Tour of Switzerland with the objective of doing any fine tuning in light of the National Championships and the Tour de France". "This was a lead-up race to the Tour de France," commented Quick.Step sports director Wilfried Peeters. "We didn't want to take too many risks, but then during the final section the whole team worked excellently together in keeping Boonen ahead, and Tom then took up this opportunity to gain a splendid victory."
