9th GP Beghelli (53rd Milano-Vignola) - 1.1Italy, October 9, 20052004 Results Results Past winners Fischer wins anotherBrazilian Murilo Fischer (Naturino-Sapore Di Mare) is capitalising on his late season form, winning today's 9th GP Beghelli (53rd Milano-Vignola) in a bunch sprint. Fischer beat another man in form: Quick.Step's Paolo Bettini, who showed that he is ready for next weekend's Tour of Lombardy, while Paride Grillo (Panaria) finished third. "It's a very important victory and confirmation of my good physical condition," said Fischer. "The main job was certainly carried out by the team, Santoni in the lead is a guarantee, with his race tactics resulting in a victory. My teammates, in the finish, were in a good position to lead me out for the win, and I didn't mess it up. This win has a noteworthy value: you don't beat Bettini every day. I'm happy." The 200 km race saw an attack by Ravis Belohvosciks (Universal Caffe-Styloffice) escaped after 87 km, before being joined by Moises Aldape Chavez (Ceramica Panaria Navigare), Danilo Napolitano (Team LPR), Santo Anzā and Rinaldo Nocentini (Acqua & Sapone Adria Mobil), Filippo Simeoni and Cristian Gasperoni (Naturino Sapore di Mare), Frank Schleck (CSC), Ivan Santaromita (Quick Step Innergetic), Massimo Giunti (Fassa Bortolo), Devis Miorin (Liquigas Bianchi), Kristjan Fajt (Tenax Nobili Rubinetterie), Stefano Boggia (Ceramica Flaminia) and Paolo Bailetti (Team Androni Giocattoli-3C). The leading group gained a maximum of 2'45, but was caught after 156 km by a determined peloton. In the finale, a very strong Bettini attacked several times on the climb of Zappolino, which had to be ridden eight times, but the Olympic champion was unable to get clear. However, Bettini still took second in the final 26 man sprint that was won by Fischer, also a winner of the GP Cimurri and fifth in the World Championships in Madrid.
