CSC takes it all

The final time-trial of the Critérium International took place under typical northern France rain inside the city of Charleville-Mézières, and was largely dominated by Team CSC. Three riders of the Danish squad finished on the stage's podium, and Bobby Julich secured the overall win in front of Thomas Dekker (Rabobank) and Jörg Jaksche (Liberty Seguros). Julich, who had originally planned to work for his teammate Jens Voigt, won his second race today after being victorious at Paris-Nice.
"It was a shame for Jens that he couldn't go with the break this morning," Julich said. "But I had good legs so I jumped. I'm so happy; happy Easter to everyone! These past two weeks have been just great for me."

As Critérium International favourite Jens Voigt couldn't go with the decisive break in the morning's stage, the overall win being out of reach before starting the time trial, one could see that he had decided to make amends. With his teammate Kurt-Asle Arvesen leading, Voigt did everything in his power to win the stage, and topped Arvesen with a new best time of 10'08 as Julich, Jaksche and Dekker were still under way.
The roads were certainly not easy to ride, many corners and cobbled sections forced the riders to be careful. Young Thomas Dekker couldn't hold the pace of the CSC riders - although he won the silver medal of the World U23 TT Championships last year - and neither could Jaksche. Finally, Bobby Julich had found the ideal mixture of speed and caution on the slippery ground to take the victory, putting himself on top of the stage and general classification for the second time this season.
