Tour of Bulgaria - 2.5Bulgaria, September 12-21, 2004Stage 1 - September 12: Teteven-Uzana 158 kmBig gaps in first stageBy Bram de Waard The first stage of the Tour of Bulgaria was certainly not an easy one with a 1200m climb after only 20km and an uphill finish to 1300m. After 5 kilometres, the break of the day was already established, and they managed a maximum advantage of 13 minutes. There was no cooperation in the peloton so it was relatively easy for the leaders to stay away. In the end, 12 of the 13 made it to the finish ahead of the bunch, with Tomasz KLockzo (Dominsout-Sniezka Lod) winning the stage ahead of Are Andresen (Norwegian national team) and Nebojsa Jovanovic (Serbia and Montenegro).
