Dainius Kairelis wins third stage

By Augusto Rosati, Italian Cycling Federation

Lithuanian Dainius Kairelis (Cyberteam Faresin) won the final sprint of the third stage of the Giro d’Italia Under 26, a stage of 156 km, starting and finishing in Paderno di Ponzano (Treviso).

The race has marked by an escape of 23 riders after the start. During the course of the stage, the lead group increased in size when other riders (including Kairelis) joined on. But afterwards in the final part of the race it was reduced to 19 riders.

In the sprint, Dainius Kairelis - who last year won the Giro d'Italia Under 26 - passed Domenico Loria (mixed team MCS Bedogni Natalini/Gruppo Praga) and Claudio Masnada (SC Marchiol Famila) to win. Loria was the best placed in the general classification among the 19 breakaways and gained the pink leader's jersey.

Tomorrow's 4th stage from Fiesso d'Artico to Tregnago (173 km) features a lot of climbing in the final part.
