The start was at the Golden Bauhinia Square in the financial district. It was so early that we could still see the flag raising ceremony. In the neutral zone we already reached speeds of over 60 km/h, but then it got quiet until we arrived at the 7 km circuit that we raced for 12 laps. On this course there are two mean climbs, and with good legs still you can take them fast at the big ring, but they wear the peloton out.

After a few laps, two groups got away. Rhys Pollock, who looked impressively strong and was in nearly every break was also in this one. But it regrouped again. This happened a second time and Marco Polo completely missed this break. Also because Rhys had a flat tyre, the caravan with cars was about one minute behind the peloton so he had no chance to get back.

There was another regrouping and then a small group with Kam Po Wong got away. Kenji went after them and caught this group after half a lap chase. Then Masa [Masahiko Mifune] went as hard as anybody up one of the climbs to catch a chase group, and he also made it to the front. When Oggi [Jamsran Ulzii-Orshikh] heard that Kam Po had already left the group (without telling him ;-)) he attacked and just rode off as nobody tried to follow him. That made three Marco Polo riders in the break of 21 riders which formed.

Entering the final lap, young supertalent Alexander Hatuntsev attacked and was never caught back. Also the chase of Kam Po Wong with Vladislav Borisov failed and they sprinted for second, which was for Kam Po. Masa came in 6th and Kenji came in 12th and Oggi 15th. Marco Polo is now third on team GC behind Moskou City Sports and the Hong Kong National Team.
