79th Astico - Brenta - 1.6Italy, September 8, 2003By Brian Stephens, AIS U23 Team Manager Monday, saw the running of the Astico Brenta race over 181km in the Veneto Region of Italy. The course featured one major climb of about 13 kilometres halfway through the race. The AIS Mapei Aqua Australian team included David Betts, Jon Cantwell, Nick Sanderson, Peter Dawson and Aaron Kemps. Dave got over the climb in the front group and all the others regained on the long wet descent. Then a group of 20 odd riders went clear including Peter Dawson and Nick Sanderson. This group stayed clear and in the sprint won by Cocco Geremia, Peter Dawson was 8th and Nick 16th.
