The peloton begin the circuit's climb en masse.
Riders scream through the narrow streets of Newport, Wales.
The riders enjoyed the freedom of having a totally closed circuit throughout the 213 kilometre race.
Roger Hammond (Palmans-Collstrop-Mr Bookmaker) soloes to victory, a massive five and a half minutes clear of his nearest competitor.
Matthew Stephens (Sigma Sport Pro Cycle Shop) rolls off after setting the pace over the top of the climb.
With Hammond's demolition display in Wales today, most of the riders knew they were fighting for the minor placings even before finishing.
Enjoying a leading margin of over five minutes, Roger Hammond (Palmans-Collstrop-Mr Bookmaker) cruises home in the final part of the race.
Jeremy Hunt (MBK-Oktus) escapes from his two other breakaway companions late in the race to claim second place.
Jamie Alberts (CC Etupes) hangs on for third.
One of the key protagonists in the race, Jonathan Dayus (Team Ringerike), misses out on a podium place by less than ten seconds.
An exhausted Matthew Stephens (Sigma Sport Pro Cycle Shop) comes home to take fifth place.
Although Stephens finished fifth, the Sigma Sport rider came in over eight minutes behind the winner, Roger Hammond (Palmans-Collstrop-Mr Bookmaker).
