Popular as ever

The Wendy's International Sports Festival is a mainstay on the U.S. Racing calendar, and there are many reasons why. The courses are challenging and in good condition; the promoters work hard to put on a good event; and most of all, the community embraces the races. So much so that a few years ago, when the newly elected mayor tried to cancel the event on her first day in office, the community rallied together on its own in support of the race. Petitions were filed, editorials written, and talk of a recall election caused the mayor to rethink her decision.

All that aside, it is still easy to see why these events are hotly attended by some big names in racing, even with Superweek finishing on the same weekend.
