The FELT - Shimano Dream Team diary 2006What do an Australian MTB Champion, an environmental engineer and an Austrian World Champion endurance cyclist have in common? They all ride for the FELT - Shimano Dream Team. Oh, and they are crazy for tackling the world's toughest MTB endurance race - Australia's Crocodile Trophy. As Darren O'Grady, David Wood & Valentine Zeller battle through the bush from the Northern Territory into Far-North-Queensland, team manager Christi Valentine-Anderson will keep us up-to-date on the boys' progress.
FELT - Shimano Dream Team Diaries, October 28, 2006David Wood saves Dream Team's BaconBy Christi Valentine-Anderson Stage Twelve: Cooktown - Wujal Wujal, 106 kmTeam member David Wood soloed to victory in Wujal Wujal even after stopping at every creek crossing to fill his water bottles along the CREB. Wood shredded all the downhills. Wood came into camp and said with a big toothy grin, "After 38 stages in the Crocodile Trophy, I finally nailed it!" No longer a rolling spare parts man, Wood finally tasted victory! Wood has earned two seconds, one third, and a fifth in this Crocodile Trophy. He'll finish fifth overall. O'Grady is now our target for the final stage into Cow Bay. He doesn't know it yet. I am planning to tell him at dinner! Wood also commented in camp that, "The last time I rode here was with James (Grant)." He was referring to his deceased former teammate and good friend James Grant.
