The Susanne Ljungskog Diary

Susanne Ljungskog has had an amazing couple of years, winning back-to-back world championships in 2002 and 2003. This year her new Team SATS outfit starts the season as the world's top female team, and with a powerful roster of riders from all over the world, looks ready to stay that way and support Ljungskjog as she clocks up even more wins in 2004.

Almost ready

Cagnes Sur Mer, France, March 2, 2004

Hi friends!

So now the season has started again, and we've already seen a World Cup race. A big hand for Oenone Wood. As far as I'm concerned, I'm still on one of my training camps, this time on the French Mediterranean coast in Cagnes Sur Mer, close to Nice. It's a fantastic location for training, especially climbing. My training right now is based on long rides as usual, with a lot of power training and I guess those who have seen me rush up and down the same climb time after time might think that I'm ready for some kind of institution by now.

Time to talk about the weather. Europe is freezing at the moment, and although we have been affected by those conditions in Nice, we haven't had it as bad as the rest of the continent, and a few flakes of snow comes with the package, I guess. I'm happy that my weeks on Mallorca were warm and sunny, but I don't think my friend Anita who's there right now appreciates the beauty of the island quite as much as I did.

The 10th of March is the time to present Team SATS in Lyngby, Copenhagen. It will be the first time where I'll meet all the riders in the team, and all the leaders, which should make for a fun and interesting day. We have a great mix of riders, and if we use our resources right, the pay-off during the year should be great.

My first real race will be Rosignano Marittimo in Italy on the 14th of March, followed by the Primavera Rosa, and after that, it will just go on. When it comes to the bigger Tours, I'll ride Tour de l'Aude and Giro d'Italia. If you want to take a look at my whole schedule you'll find it on my website. This year I will only race in Europe as it saves a lot of energy not going back and forth over time zones.

Until next time.
Au revoir, Susanne
