Snerf's slant: The 2004 Nicole Freedman DiarySprinter, 2000 Olympian and a founder of the Basis women's team, Nicole Freedman - known as Snerf to her friends - is one of the US circuit's great characters. Her goal for 2004 is to make the Olympic team for Israel and failing that "to see one of my developmental teammates win their first NRC race and subsequently take all their prize money." May 17, 2004Basis continues podium streak at the Joe Martin Stage RaceTeam takes 3rd and 6th in stages, 4th and 8th in overallKristin Johnson, Chrissy Ruiter, Lauren Gaffney, Nicole Freedman and guest rider Nicki Wangsgard continued their streak at the Joe Martin Stage Race. Charges (for streaking) have since been dropped, and the women will be headed home shortly. "Mr. Officer, I can't pick up my daughter just yet, but would you be so kind as to make her favorite organic almond butter and jelly sandwich for me?" The Joe Martin Stage Race took place May 14-16th in Fayetteville, Arkansas in the Ozark Mountains, the United States' less well-known mountain range. In the opening road stage, Kristin earned her way into the winning break to take sixth place behind winner Tina Mayolo (Genesis). In the second road race, Chrissy joined Kori Kelley (Exodus) and Katrina Berger (Dueteronomy) in a long breakaway which gained over seven minutes on the field. Chrissy took third in the stage, posting her best finish since winning Pictionary at the team training camp. Chrissy finished fourth overall and Kristin eighth. The final podium was widened to include five riders and Chrissy slipped up to assume her place. Upcoming events include: 5/12-5/23: Tour de L'Aude, Aude region, France
