The Tanya Lindenmuth diary

Last year was a good year for Tanya Lindenmuth, winning her fourth American National Women's Sprint Championships in a row. And this year should be even better. Meet Tanz, out latest diarist, as she tells all on the oval track.

A flying start at nationals

US track national championships, Trexlertown, PA, August 26-30

Hi race fans! long time no type

It is that time of the season again... Nationals has come to my hometown in Pennsylvania; T-Town! So it is a week spent with my mom, friends/family and the race fans. I have been living/training in Colorado Springs. I haven't been home since Easter so it is a welcome feeling now to ride on my home turf when motivation starts to wan after a tiring season.

We had the 200m qualifier tonight and T-Mobile gave it the ol' one-two punch with Chris Witty taking top seed in 11.70 and me right on her heels in 11.8 or thereabouts. I'm excited at our depth this year. The top four go like this:

1 Chris Witty
2 Tanya Lindenmuth
3 Jennie Reed
4 Becky Conzelman

I was pleased with my time tonight. It has a been a day for weird weather. It was hot/muggy, rained (thus cooling it off) and then the humidity came back up. So I figured we wouldn't get close to the track record of 11.5. I am still looking for that perfect day when maybe that record will fall.

We also had first round where there were no real surprises until about the fifth or sixth heat. Sarah Hammer - enduro turned sprinter - hopped off of her pursuit bike (after taking third in the pursuit earlier) and did a PB in the 200m of 12.4 and then she went one step further and won her first ride over Marth Dunne - Good Girl! Three Magenta Ladies in the top eight.

Side note - Martha is in the US Navy and it's been a while since she could really train properly. She was overseas protecting our nation and so my thought is that I am just glad to have her home with us!

We wake early (VERY) tomorrow and start off with quarter-finals and then the evening will see us with semis and finals...

Stay tuned to this bat channel for further updates!

Smiles, be safe
