Family first, see-sawing second

G'day all,

I'm back from Italy and all's going well. After having some problems with my left knee resulting from a crash in the Tour of Mallorca that had been affecting my training before Tirreno-Adriatico and Milan-San Remo, I think I can get some good training in before my next races.

Riding Milan-San Remo was a great experience for me. It was my first World Cup event and I really got a lot out of the race. I basically ran out of legs on the Cipressa and rode my way to the finish line after that. The best man won on the day in my opinion; Paolo Bettini and the Quick Step team rode a great tactical race.

Returning home to Spain last Sunday after 10 days or so, I have been recovering and spending time with my family. We've had some really good weather here so the local parks are the place to be, where the kids play and the parents watch and catch up on the goss.

It was good to get back into a routine with training and my family. One afternoon, I decided to help my daughter Brooklyn on the local see-saw and have a go with her with about 15 or so parents watching on seats scattered around the playground.

And yep, you guessed it - the only kid on his back who fell off the see-saw was me! Dead Ant flat on his backside, legs up in the air and holding onto Brooklyn, with the reddest face in town! I think I'll lay low for a couple of days...

For me and my family, it has been really good getting to know Oiartzun (the town where we live, near San Sebastian), getting into a really good family lifestyle, and getting to know the Stephens family that has made settling into Spain so easy and enjoyable.

All the best and till next time,
Allan Davis
