Ballarat, Victoria, January 10, 2002
Today we raced the Australian National Time Trial title in Buninyong, just outside of Ballarat. The course was 28 km in length, with a climb for the first couple of km and then the notorious dead roads and false flats of country Victoria. We had great conditions with a warm 30 degree day and a light breeze blowing.
Sara Carrigan claimed her first national title today, winning in a time of 41.19 with an average speed of 40.7 km/h. I ran second at 41.55 (40.1 km/h) and Hayley Rutherford was third in 46.19. Then came Margaret Hemsley, Alison Wright, and Katie Mactier, with my fellow Saturn rider Kristy Scrymgeour finishing in 11th place.
We have one day of rest before racing the National Road Race Championships on Saturday.
