The MG winning spree continues and once again Pascal Richard demonstrates
that he has few peers in the Italian autumn classics. He won this race in
1993 and then went on to win the Tour of Lombardy. Last year he was 3rd in
Lombardy after being caught by Bobrik and Chiappucci in the closing
kilometre. Richard has had a relatively quiet year but has still managed to
win a stage of Paris-Nice and two stages at the Giro d'Italia.
Pascal Richard took his second victory in the Giro di Lazio, having won it
in 1993, after breaking clear with Piepoli 90km from the finish. Incessant
rain throughout the race led to many falls.
