Sciandri to Motorola

It is being reported in the UK that Max Sciandri has signed for Motorola
for next season, and is bringing his MG team-mate Flavio Vanzella with him.
Sciandri, who rode for Motorola in 1992 and 1993, recently won the Leeds
Classic and a stage in the Tour de France to confirm his place as one of
the top riders in the world. Vanzella, a wearer of the yellow jersey in
last year's Tour de France, is recognised as being one of the best team
riders in the peloton.

This should really bolster Motorola's roster and make them, with Lance
Armstrong and Sciandri, a real force to be reckoned with in the Spring
Classics.

Against the Ropes

The Italian Carrera team have taken swift action against Venezuelan rider
Leonardo Sierra, who was involved in a punch-up with Ramon Gonzalez Arrieta
on Wednesday's stage of the Vuelta a Espana, by expelling him from the
team.

Motorola's New Pagers

Jim Ochowicz, Motorola team general manager, said: "Max [Sciandri] will
be a great asset and should provide support for the team in the World Cup
races.
"And Flavio [Vanzella] will bolster the team's strength in the one-day
World Cup races as well as in the major tours."
Both riders were signed for one-year contracts.
