Report

Britain's Chris Boardman, who broke the world one-hour cycling record on Friday, set a course record when he won the Joseph Voegeli Memorial time-trial on Sunday.

Boardman's time of 39 minutes 50 seconds sliced one minute 21 seconds from the course record set on the 29.6-km circuit in 1994 by Switzerland's Tony Rominger, whose one-hour mark the Briton beat in Manchester, England.

On Sunday, Boardman averaged 44.58 kph to win the time-trial by one minute 13 seconds from Switzerland's Oskar Camenzind. Italy's Andrea Tafi was third.

Camenzind had trimmed eight seconds from Rominger's mark over the hilly circuit before Boardman stormed home to snatch the record.

Eight kilometres from the finish, Boardman overhauled former U.S. world champion Lance Armstrong, who had started two minutes before the Briton.
