Brief Report
The race came alive at km106 when Chiappucci, Richard, Guidi, Tafi,
Roscioli, Elli and Colage broke clear. Soon Settembrini, Faresin,
Donati and Skibby bridged across to them. Later, Colage, Guidi,
Settembrini and Richard were dropped, but Riis was able to make it up
to the break in the compnay of Bartoli and Virenque. With this
reinforcement, the gap on the peloton rapidly developed and near the
finish Riis broke clear.
