Next year, the World Cup race for women in the Netherlands will be in Spijkenisse on September 13. The organiser expects a minimum of 20 international teams for a race over 130 kilometers. The other five World Cup races are in the united States, Canada, Australia, Switzerland and France.

World Cup Cycle Cross

Recall last week that I reported that the Dutch Federation were having troubles because Richard Groenendaal and Adri van der Poel wanted to wear the team (Rabobank) rather than national colours in the World Cup Cycle Cross this year.

Now, the KNWU has talked with UCI President Hein Verbruggen about the non-commercial national. Peter Zevenberger of the KNWU said: "Officially, we don't have a UCI reaction yet, but after hearing Verbruggen, it's clear the UCI will not come to an agreement about the sponsor's shirts. The KNWU can't do anymore for the sponsored teams."

Rabobank team manager Jan Raas said last week that his riders Richard Groenendaal and Adri van der Poel would not be allowed to start in Eschenbach (Switzerland) next Sunday.
