Japanese Yoshiyuki Abe (Mapei-GB) has won the Japan Cup, held in Utsonomiya, 100 km north of Tokyo. The route used the 1990 World Championship route with one twist - it went in the opposite direction

This is the third win of his career (the others: the national title and a stage at the Tour of Poland). He reached the finish line in arms with his teammate Andrea Tafi. Abe races with the jersey of Japan National Champion.
