Boardman Returns

U.K., 8 Oct 95 --- For the seventh time in ten years, Chris Boardman won
today's (Sunday) Merseyside Wheelers' invitation time trial. It was his
first competition since breaking his ankle and wrist in the Tour de France
prologue in early July. He completed the 45-kms/28-mile Cheshire course in
one hour four minutes 56 seconds -- a record for the event -- and beat
national time trial champion Stuart Dangerfield by +1:25, with Chris Newton
at +1:58 in third place.
Boardman commented: "I'm not fully fit yet, but my leg held up all
right." Boardman returns to France this week to race the Paris-Bourges road
race and then World Cup Paris-Tours.
He said: "There's no chance of me appearing in the (leading) results,
but I am expected to produce a respectable ride in the track meeting at
Bercy, Paris, on 23 October."
