October 15, Indurain Fails in Record Attempt

My information is incomplete, because I came into a live report on French radio
belatedly. So I don't know if Indurain completed the hour or abandoned part way
through. The outcome, though, is that Rominger still holds the hour record.
Indurain is definitely NOT going to make a second attempt on this occasion,
since he is flying back to Europe to attend the Tour de France presentation on
Tuesday 17th.

Indurain apparently abandoned his record attempt after 20-something KM (I think
23). Contrary to earlier reports it is now said that he will make a second
attempt on the record tomorrow. One theory floated about today's "failure" was
that Indurain's new position is aerodynamically very poor.
