Report

The final hour of the race was very dramatic. With 50 laps back it was down to Veggerby-Madsen (333 points) and Riis-Martinello (330 points). Then the 5 final sprints for 10 6 4 and 2 points should find the winners. It looked like a wrap up when Veggerby-Madsen won the first two sprints (Then they were 11 points up). Now Riis-Martinello was forced to win the last 3 sprints. And so they did, in the last one Riis beat Veggerby by about 40 cm.

By the way Jean Marie Leblanc (Mr. Tour) was in Herning watching the race. He is positive about letting the Tour start in Herning sometime in the future (after year 2000).
