AIS Under 23 Scholarships

Dual Junior World Champion Matthew Meaney was said to have thrown the towel in last month after the Junior World Championships. However he has been enticed back on his bike again with an U23 AIS road Scholarship. He will be joined by 20 year old Corey Sweet who returned from a season racing in Italy and France this year. Corey had a promise of sponsorship from an Italian team for the coming road season but is ecstatic to be able to join fellow under 23 brother Jay Sweet in the AIS road program.

Am I down to publishing party information!

The City of Elizabeth, home town of the Sweet brothers and National Women's Scratch race Champion Chelsey Zucker, was bristling with talent as the AIS road and track squads converged last Friday night to celebrate the cousins combined 21st Birthday's. A dozen or more of the countries top cyclists partied on for a few days spending the weekend between the beaches and night clubs.

Baden Burke showed he can walk pretty well when he ran out of petrol on the Hay plain on his way over from Canberra. All returned home Sunday evening after a perfect sunny spring weekend. Some of the track riders traveled up to the mid north town of Port Pirie (home of Matt Meaney) to compete with the likes of Pate and Aitken for the annual sporting carnival.

That's about as parochial as it gets crew!
