South Australian Open State 50k Madison

Olympic team mates Bradley McGee and Dean Woods dominated on their way to the State Madison Championship victory.

In the event where riders hand sling there partners into racing action, the McGee/Woods combination finished ahead of South Australians Brett Aitken and Tim Lyons, with England's Bryan Steel and Simon Lillistone in third place.

Victorian Gary Neiwand beat Jens Feidler with a 2-1 result in their best of three match-race.

Young women rider Chelsey Zucker from Central District CC will be celebrating her 21st birthday next weekend with a broad smile on her face after coming second to Lucy Tyler-Sharman in the heartstarter and winning the Scratch race after leading out AIS rider Karen Barrow, Felicity Meyers and World pursuit silver meadalist Lucy Tyler-Sharman. Zucker controlled the final laps from the front to open up a gap half a lap from home to win by a length.

Victorian teenager Baden Cooke served notice of his arrival in Adelaide yesterday, upstaging his senior national rivals with victory in the Bike South Adelaide Street race. Cooke, an 18 year old who joins a new crop of track cycling scholarship holders this week at the Australian Institute of Sport's new home, took the honors on the city's Rundle Street course.

The reigning national under-19 points score champion edged out Danish rider Frederick Bertelsen, with Olympian Brett Aitken third and SA's national criterium champion Jay Sweet fourth.

South Australian Chelsey Zucker's form held strong when she won the women's street race over Victorian Karen Barrow and state teamate Alayna Burns followed by hard working world junior representative Joanne Robinson.

Adelaide's Michael McGee was the breakaway winner in the men's B grade. In the under 17 racing on Rundle Street, Gene Bates won the A grade while Like Orr the B grade winner.
