Publicans Wheelrace 1500m

Middlemarker Damian Lynch (Kilkenny CC) showed that he has recovered from an horrific accident earlier this year by winning the Norwood Cycling Club's Annual "Publican's Wheelrace". Lynch Bridged a 100m gap on his own to reach the fast moving limit riders comprisied of mainly newly turned junior riders. After catching the lead group, had a one lap rest before leading the bunch out with one to go. Lynch's speed was too good for the young riders and left the bunch behind to finish 3m clear. The limit riders hung on to fill the minor placings only 1/2m in front of a wall of scratch riders.

Malaysian Airlines "Aces" 40 lap scratch race (10k) Nigel Grigg (Cenral Districts CC) fought off a talented field to win the Malaysian Airlines 10km Scratch race. Nigel Won convincingly from Luke Roberts, Luke Kuss and newcomer Keith Felix followed by Brett Aitken who all finished clear on the bunch. Grigg intimidated Aitken on the final turn to guarantee himself the win. The former SASI scholarship and world junior team pursuit champion rider Grigg won a return flight to Phuket with 6 days and nights accomodation courtesy Malaysian Airlines.

National Womens Scratch Race Champion Chelsey Zucker made a stunning debut return to the track bike to win the Womens Handicap from a quality field comprising fast moving Joanne Robinson, Rosalie Hubbard, Katy Parker, Alayna Burns and World Champion Rachael Linke. Zucker who completes here university studies this year is sure to push "specialist" sprinters Hubbard and Parker this season.

Symeko Johenke proved she has still got what it takes by taking out the women's scratch race. The ever aggressive Johinke went early, surprising the field. While the sprinters jockeyed for position, Johinke cleared opened up a 15m gap and held off Katie Parker and Chelsey Zucker by half a bike across the line.
