Tour of Mexico - Stage 13

Marco Vermey wins stage after 178 km breakaway

The 13th stage of Ruta Mexico saw Marco Vermey (Superior Chazal), Eduardo Estrada (Temerarios Corona), Manuel Hernandez and Kamil Siddharta (both Ciao Italia-IMSS) make the longest successful breakaway in this year's race.

It started after only 4 kms have been covered. The maximum lead was 8.35 after 150 km. On the long final climb (39 km, from 1,100m to the finish at 2,100m) Vermey went away to a solo win with Estrada and Hernandez coming in just ahead of the chasing bunch.

The only significant change in the GC was that Manuel Guevara, Venezuela, went from seventh to sixth place. Three days to go and the the Colombians with leader Espinoza seems to be in total control. There is only one difficult stage left, the penultimate, to La Malinche, Sunday.
