Tokoroa teenager Scott Guyton is the suprise fifth leader of the Colonial
Cycle Classic.
Guyton, 19, took the tour lead - the fifth tour leader in four days - after
he broke away with German Marcel Wust about 25km from the finish of the
168km stage from Manukau to Hamilton.
The pair - contrast in experience but both big, strong riders - worked
together to extend their lead to 1min 17s at the line.
Guyton's 8s time bonus for finishing second was added to his advantage on
the chasing bunch, giving him a 10s lead ove Australian Chris White.
For the second day running Wust won the stage and pulled back another
minute of the time he'd lost on the first two days. He's now only 2min 19s
down and if he continues in the current vein of picking up a minute every
day he'll win the tour by a street.
But as in the past few days he is playing down his form.
"It's the third day in a row I've put a good ride - I don't know how much
longer I can keep going," Wust said. -- NZPA
