NO GIRO FOR BANESTO

The Spanish Banesto team announced Friday (11/10), that they will not participate in Giro d'Italia 1996. The main objectives for the team will be the tours of France and Spain.

Banesto's decision comes just a few days after the other big Spanish team, Once, announced that it will not ride the Giro next year.

Ten riders, among them Andy Hampsten and Gerard Rue, will leave Banesto and the team will be slimmed down from 24 riders to 17 in 1996.

Pantani

Marco Pantani is "Il campione piu amato dagli italiani", a Lipton Ice Tea competition in Italy for the most popular cycling champion, open to cyclists from the whole world.

ROSLOTTO-ZG MOBILI

is now the official name of Moreno Argentin's team for 1996. A three-year contract with Roslotto, the Russian national lottery, has been signed.

The team will have 15 riders; Fondriest, Ugrumov (Lat), Ferrigato, Cattai, Manzoni, Chiurato, Savoldelli (neo), Sgnaolin (neo), Fincato (neo), Lino (Fra), Gontchenkov (Ukr), Davidenko (Kaz), Surkov (Rus), Bonciukov (Mol), Djavanian (Rus).

Directeur sportifs; Massimo Ghirotto, Dario Mariuzzo and the Russian Nikolay Gorelov.

They will ride Fondriest bikes.

Lino (Fra) - Peeters (Hol) has taken over the lead in the Bordeaux Six-Day after the second night. They have 63 points with Martinello - Villa (95 points, 1 lap behind) in second place, and then Australian duo Woods - Gilmore (90) and Baffi - Bincoletto (80).
