Stage 5 Report

Swiss Oscar Camenzind, from Team Mapei, won the 5th stage of the Tour of Austria, considered the toughest stage of the race, disputed between between Bad Hofgastein & Lienz (Osttirol) with a 148 km route. Camenzind headed another expected Mapei exhibition and finished with a time of 4:03:33, the same as his teammate Frank Vandenbroucke, who came in second. Italian Daniele Nardello, another "Mapei", came in fourth at 8 seconds and conserves the leader's yellow jersey, with four stages to go. Tomorrow's stage joins the cities of Lienz with Sankt Johann-Pongau over 153 km.

Stage 8 Report

Belgian Frank Vandenbroucke (Mapei) achieved today his third stage win at the Tour of Austria, by winning stage 8 disputed in a circuit in Villach. Vandenbroucke covered the 14 laps to complete the 168km in 4:10:21 and won by himself with 31 seconds of advantage over his teammate Oscar Camenzind. Italian Daniele Nardello, kept the leader's jersey. The last stage will be contested tomorrow, with 173km from Villach and concluding with the A-1 circuit (Zeltweg).
